Dear Editor,
As an outsider to Latvian government, I am amused that the only real qualification of the Minister of Defense is his membership in the Frankfurt Bulldog Club in Germany. If Latvia wants to be taken seriously as a member of Western Europe, it should start by placing qualified members in positions of leadership and responsibility, not only in its own country but in Brussels as well. From an outsider's perspective, the members of the Latvian Parliament trade their Ministries like shares on the stock market - Ministry of Health last year 's Ministry of Defense this year 's and for next year I think I should position myself for Ministry of Justice. They have no desire to serve the citizens of Latvia, only their own interest.
