Latvians were once so proud. A mere 17 years ago Latvians took to the streets in a monumental singing revolution and seized back their independence. People were proud of their newfound country. Four years ago the world was at Latvia's fingertips. The country had joined the EU and NATO, and people here were beaming with pride in what their small nation had accomplished. It was a new dawn.
