Military complains over lower defense spending

VILNIUS - Jonas Kronkaitis, Lithuanian army commander, met with President Valdas Adamkus on Nov. 16 to complain about the suspension of some defense programs.Kronkaitis said that the armed forces received only 66 percent of the planned funds for this year because of the tense economic and financial situation in the country. "I can't say today how disappointed NATO will be in us. I'm worried that we won't be able to perfect our army as planned," Kronkaitis said.
