Birthday expenses cause outrage

It has been a while since I wrote to the editor, I thought I  would give it a rest. But after reading the LETA News Release this  morning, I simply had to write today.

The comments from ex Minister Gudele have squarely hit the head of the ROOT CAUSE nail and are related to most of the problems in Latvia today.

Folks around these parts don't seem to believe that rules, regulations, laws and moral and ethical behavior applies to them. They simply don't get it!

The News Release said; Gudele also invited the public to consider why this information surfaced almost one year after it took place;

Rather than taking full, clear responsibility for her inappropriate behavior, she made an excuse that someone was. The facts are, she spent state money on a birthday party, her birthday party. She new about it and later stretched the truth.

Maybe someone could make a case that it was technically not illegal; but, it was really not the way things should be done.

Latvians need to start taking these issues seriously. People need to be held accountable at all levels.
Road accidents will decrease, work related injuries will decrease,   productivity will increase and on and on.
Come on Latvia, its been 17 years, what's it going to take?

Look it up, the word is integrity! The word has been around since the 14th century and according to Webster it means a firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values: incorruptibility.
