TALLINN - Whilst walking along in the old town, down Muurivahe Street I decided to drop by a place called Guitar Safari, to maybe have a drink, a snack and a look see to check if anything had changed there. To my surprise 's everything had changed… The door was locked, and the sign on the wall said Nightclub, 360.
The hard rock atmosphere has been tipped head over heals and transformed into a really posh and swanky one. The rock ballads that echoed in your eardrums once upon a time have been switched to upbeat '70s, '80s and '90s dance classics. Wooden chairs thrown out in favor of soft pillows, and instead of cheap beer lovely ladies now offer fancy cocktails. How did that happen? One thing is for sure, our dear rock fans will not get in to this place so easily anymore or more to the point will probably not particularly want to.
The club has the right to decide who goes in, and who will have to find a different place to spend the evening. Even so the rules are not all that harsh, and getting in to have a good old dance around the place should not be too problematic, as long as you are not dressed in a jump suit, are more or less sober, and most importantly are not carrying anything illegal with you.
Once inside, club 360 looks absolutely nothing like it's predecessor Safari did -- and yours truly was surprised and impressed after seeing what the designers have done to the place. The design is an interesting mixture of rugged concrete walls and modern black, white and orange furniture. Though the place is pretty small, it does not feel too crowded or cramped, though if you really require a lot of space to dance, the 360 dance floor is obviously not the best choice for you.
All in all, the 360 club is not your typical Estonian club that Tallinners are used to. It is more the kind of place that allows you to just "chill out," have a few cocktails and quite simply enjoy yourself. So if that is the sort of atmosphere you are looking for 's this would definitely be one of the best choices available to you in sunny Tallinn. But, if when going to a club you expect to see a giant dance floor, loud music and lots of people 's you might consider going elsewhere.
Another interesting thing to know about this club, is the fact that a few days ago they had a concert with a live band namely, Plastic Barricades, who are considered to be the rising star of Estonian so-called brit-rock. Who knows, maybe the owner decided to go further than simply serving cocktails as drinks and has dared to attempt to create a 'cocktail' of an atmosphere by mixing and shaking such ingredients as rock and glam, hard and posh. The fusion of these elements coming together is obviously an interesting experience, and it would be great to see where this leads him and his club to.
