LANGUAGE IS KEY

Evey time I visit Lithuania, I notice people of Russian and Polish ancestry who have lived there for decades, yet do not speak Lithuanian. Learning another language is easiest when living with people who speak it, so these people really have no excuses. It is obvious that such people do not want to learn the language of the country in which they live. Just as with the illegal immigrants from Central and South America who come to the United States and refuse to learn English, these people are only harming themselves. Anything which encourages or accommodates their refusal to learn the local language must be avoided. They may initially object, but they, and their descendants, will benefit greatly from becoming fully integrated into the society in which they live.
