WARSAW 's Estonian-based AS Hansapank has submitted an application to be admitted to the Warsaw Stock Exchange as a member. The official application was made Aug 9.

AS Hansapank, part of the Swedish Swedbank Group, was founded in 1991 and is currently quoted on the Tallinn exchange.

The bank is part of the Swedish Swedbank Group, which is among the largest financial institutions in the Baltic States.

The Warsaw exchange presently has 16 overseas or 'remote' members, with AS Suprema Securities of Estonia among them. Admission as a remote member would enable Hansapank to gain direct access to the WSE trading and exchange system without having to maintain a physical presence in Poland or go via a local intermediary broker.
