Plugging the holes in Latvian politics

A number of recent events have added a charge to the political atmosphere in Latvia. One of these events was an amendment to the administrative code concerning the protection of the Latvian language which was included in the final version of a bill without having been voted on by Parliament. There was wide speculation when this was revealed as to whether it was truly a clerical error or a case of politicians trying to sneak amendments through the back door.
