TALLINN - Five arenas. Three floors. A lot of music. On May 11, the fourth annual 5 Element dance music event will bring dozens of international DJs and producers and thousands of partiers under one roof at Tallinn's Saku Suurhall. While Prive and BonBon might do for most weekends, the city's hip, young club crowd will be making its way to 5 Element on this particular Friday.

The name of the mega event refers to the five electronic dance genres it features: techno, drum & bass, breaks, progressive and trance. Sander Sellin, 5 Element's organizer, says, "5 Element's main idea is to represent all aspects of electronic music, covering it with number-one DJs."
And those DJs seem to be packing a lot of enthusiasm.
"I have participated in the last three 5 Element events and enjoyed all of them," said Felipe, one of this year's headlining DJs from Austria. "For me it is a fantastic event as I was not used to seeing such a successful mixture of drum & bass and techno music, and I like the festival character a lot."

The combined effect of 16 international DJs from Sweden, the UK, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, and Russia, plus 17 local DJs, performing for a total of 9 hours will make for an intense experience. And that's not even mentioning the top-notch sound system, strobes, lasers, and video show. According to Sellin, the full installation and sound checks will take 96 hours.
Perhaps the biggest name performing this year is Adam Beyer, one of Sweden's leading Techno DJs and producers. If you're into techno, then Beyer's name definitely rings a bell, and if you are a fan of Swedish techno, then you are most likely already a fan of Beyer. There is no doubt that his name alone will sell a lot of tickets. Relative newcomer The Upbeats, a drum & bass duo out of New Zealand, might not have Beyer's name recognition, but they have a sound that will draw and keep new fans.

Still not sure what to expect? Terry Ryan, half of UK duo Atomic Hooligan (another headliner), has geared up by watching YouTube. "[I'm] really looking forward to the event. I have watched a few clips on YouTube from 2006 and it looks amazing. I am especially looking forward to playing on the 80kW TURBOSOUND system on the main stage."
Saku Suurhall is the perfect (if not only) venue for this kind of event. Though smoking is not allowed, it can accommodate up to 7,000 people. And that's important, considering 5 Element has every intention of drawing a crowd.

Tickets are available in advance at Piletilevi and Statoil for 275 kroons (17.57 euros) or at the door for 300 kroons (19.17 euros). VIP tickets at the price of 500 kroons (31.95 euros) can be purchased from (+372) 56 629 600 or [email protected].
