The participation of Lithuanian troops in international missions to Iraq and Afghanistan has become a hot topic in the Baltic country of late. Most recently, there has been disagreement among Lithuania's top politicians on the Iraq mission, with Defense Minister Juozas Olekas announcing that the country will recall its combat troops from Iraq this summer, and President Valdas Adamkus responding that he would be ashamed if Lithuania turns tail and runs from the conflict. Days earlier, military officials had acknowledged that troops are no longer volunteering for dangerous hardship missions ...
