I've been reading with interest your item about the State Inspection for Heritage Protection's report on the preservation of the historical center of Riga. Of course this board and UNESCO try hard to protect as much as possible, but I feel that the genuine protection of Latvia's architectural heritage is currently a very low topic on the political agenda. It seems that politicians are far more engaged in restoring the pre-war territory of Abrene (which is of course a hopeless task) rather than showing some engagement for Latvia's monuments. And this is not only a question of money, but als...
