TALLINN - The Port of Tallinn will this week play host to a British warship, the HMS Liverpool, which docked at midday on Oct. 17. The impressive 4820-ton tenth class Type 42 Destroyer carries 287 staff and a large armament of missiles.

In recent years, the ship has served in the Persian Gulf, taking part in the invasion of Iraq. It was also involved in intercepting a large shipment of drugs in the Caribbean.

The ship is visiting Estonia for purely ceremonial functions. It is accompanying Queen Elizabeth II during her state visit, and will undergo a royal inspection on Oct. 20.
HMS Liverpool will leave Tallinn on Oct. 22.
