Now more than ever, the Latvian government needs to prioritize its integration policy. With open EU borders, the country will see an increasing number of immigrants, while, much to the country's chagrin, the problem of intolerance has been raised to society's eye. Since her appointment in April, Special Task Minister for Social Integration Karina Petersone has already tackled what in Latvia is still a touchy subject - ethnic and social acceptance.
