Tallinn city takes Finance Ministry to court

TALLINN - The City of Tallinn took the Estonian Ministry of Finance to court last week after the ministry recommended that the city not be granted a loan. The ministry recommended to Hansapank not to grant the city the 130 million kroon ($8.9 million) loan it requested last summer, citing a lack of financial discipline. The city has charged that the ministry did not give sufficient grounds for the decision and asked the Tallinn Administrative Court to declare the action of the Finance Ministry illegal.
