Tourism becomes a billion-euro business

Lithuania's revenues from incoming tourism totaled a staggering 0.7 billion euros in the first 10 months of 2005, up 24.4 percent year-on-year. And it's not hard to see that this year tourism will become a billion-euro business. Sightseers are staying longer on average 's the number of tourist arrivals rose by 5 percent while the number of one-day visits fell by 1.5 percent 's and travel trade experts agree that a trend of steady growth will continue toward 2009, the year Vilnius becomes the European City of Culture and when Lithuania celebrates its first millennium as a unified state.
