In hosting the 2006 World Ice Hockey Championship, Riga opened its doors to the biggest tourism spectacle in recent history. Millions of lats have gone into the event, which has welcomed thousands of tourists from across the globe, and a world-class ice arena was built just for the championship. But organizing the event is like running a three-ring circus.
