The European Theatre Union is awarding 36-year-old Lithuanian director Oskaras Korsunovas its award for New Theatre Reality.
Korsunovas' past work has included an adaptation of the classic Russian novel "The Master and Margarita," a minimalist staging of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" made up of wooden boards and a staging of "Romeo and Juliet" in which the Montagues and Capulets are represented by rival pizza parlors.
Korsunovas will accept his award at a March 12 ceremony in Turin, Italy where British playwright Harold Pinter and French choreographer Joseph Nadj will also be honored.
If you want to see some of his work now, the Oskaras Korsunovas Theater in Vilnius is currently staging a new production, "Make-Up Opera," an experimental piece that examines the effects of aging on the human face.
