VILNIUS/TALLINN - The basketball premier league has begun in all three Baltic states, with the 2005 Euro Championship fresh in its wake. For Lithuanian basketball fans, still sore from the nation's painful 63-47 loss to France, eliminating them from Eurochamp title contention, a strong premier season could help alleviate wounded pride. As Lithuanian captain Vidas Ginevicius said after his team's quarterfinal loss to France, "This was the worst match in the history of Lithuanian basketball."
