RIGA - Along with honor, hosting the 2006 Ice-Hockey World Championship will bestow Riga with a colossal bill. President of the Latvian Ice-Hockey Federation, Kirovs Lipmans, estimated that the cost of organizing the tournament would reach 7 million lats (9.9 million euros). In order to cover this amount, 75-80 percent of game tickets must be sold, Lipmans told Latvijas Avize daily. Realistically, Lipmans said he doesn't expect sizable profits from the tournament.
