In need of a broader view

It is hammering on an open door to say that man shall not live by bread alone. The old wisdom and simple truth, however, is often overlooked in shaping public policy and day-to-day business.To put it somewhat differently, what we call "development" should be broader than material well-being and economic growth alone.
