TALLINN 's Some 20 EU skeptics staged a demonstration outside the government residency in Tallinn in protest against adopting of the Constitutional Treaty.

The demonstration started at noon at the government building and continued an hour later at the building of the European Commission's representation. Protestors, who also picketed the European Commission's office, demanded an end to what they called a "violation of Estonia's constitutional order and fundamental law."

Vice-chairman of the Estonian Freedom Movement and chief organizer of the picket, Argo Loo, said the protest was sparked by the activity of the government and the European Commission that contradicted the nation's constitution.

The picketers demanded that a criminal investigation be launched under legal provisions covering activity aimed against the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Estonia.

Loo has protested against the EU constitution on many occasions. In September 2004 he staged demonstrations in Tallinn, Tartu and Viljandi to demand a referendum on adopting the EU constitution.
