VILNIUS – The construction of the National Concert Hall in Vilnius is scheduled to be completed in 2030, with the total cost of the project estimated at 121 million euros, the Culture Ministry said on Monday.

"Once the designing stage is complete, the next step will be an international tender" to select the building contractor, it quoted Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas as saying in a press release.

"It is planned that the contract could be signed in the spring of 2024," he said, adding that "the completion of the National Concert Hall is slated for 2030."

The Culture Ministry plans to allocate 22.5 million euros to the National Concert Hall from the state's investment program, and the capital's municipality intends to contribute an equal amount from its budget.

Including unspent money from the current phase, the funding available for the project's work over the next two years will amount to more than 45 million euros, and the total cost of the project will reach 121 million euros, according to the ministry.

The concert hall will remain one of the government's priority projects until its completion, it noted.

The ministry and the municipality have also agreed to set up a new joint body to operate the hall.
