Inferno (2016)
In cinemas starting Friday, Oct. 14
For a long time we hadn’t heard anything noteworthy about Inferno, the upcoming third installment in the Robert Langdon film series after The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons (based on the fourth Langdon novel authored by Dan Brown). An American mystery thriller film directed by Ron Howard and written by David Koepp, it stars Tom Hanks, reprising his role as Robert Langdon, alongside Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ben Foster, and Irrfan Khan.
Inferno takes place after the previous Langdon films and picks up with the symbology guru when he wakes up one morning in a hospital in Florence. Langdon, having no memory of the past few days, must once again put his mystery-solving abilities to the test, in order to determine how a brilliant, but terrible, criminal plot is connected to Dante’s “The Divine Comedy.”
Langdon teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a global virus that would wipe out half of the world’s population. Robert Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science.
