RIGA - The mobilization of reservists that has begun in Russia for the war in Ukraine is a cry of despair, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) believes.
In an interview with TV3 channel on Friday the prime minister noted that the Russian campaign in Ukraine has been suffering heavy losses and that the aggressor hopes that the mobilization will help turn the situation around.
"Could it work out? I think that to this day they [Russians] have been underestimating the Ukrainians' will to prevail. The Ukrainians will win this war," the Latvian prime minister said.
As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday issued a decree to mobilize 300,000 reservists in order to deal with a shortage of troops in Russia's war against Ukraine.
