The Minister of Transport and Communications, Marius Skuodis, will pay a working visit to Singapore this week, where he will hold talks with the country's ministers and business representatives on closer cooperation in the transport, telecommunications and innovation sectors. With the aim to further develop Lithuania's relations with the Asia-Pacific region, the Minister, together with the CEO of Lithuanian Post, Rolandas Zukas, will call for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of postal services.

The visit, scheduled for 7-10 May, will include meetings of Mr Skuodis and his lead Lithuanian delegation with Singapore's Minister of Transport, Chee Hong Tat, and the heads of the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Singapore Post, the Land Transport Authority and the public transport operator SMRT.

At the meetings, the Minister will present Lithuania's transport sector, the potential for bilateral cooperation and the development of Sandbox initiative, aimed at fostering transport innovations. The meetings will also focus on sustainable mobility, the digitalisation of transport and logistics, public transport, e-mobility and the development of 5G connectivity.

Mr Skuodis will also invite Singapore to join the International Transport Forum, currently presided over by Lithuania, and discuss the jointly organised high-level roundtable discussion on the small states’ efforts to improve connectivity, which will take place at the World Summit on the Information Society at the end of May in Geneva.

Furthermore, the Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications will visit a sustainable aviation fuel production plant, will meet with the operators of the PSA Singapore, and representatives of the local Lithuanian community.

Singapore is the world's hub for trade, transport, innovation and financial services, and a strategically important partner for Lithuania in the Asia-Pacific region. Lithuanian companies are interested in increasing exports, establishing and strengthening ties with Singapore's transport and telecommunications partners.
