TALLINN - The success story of Estonia's education emerged as the main topic at the Education World Forum, the world's most important education forum that recently ended in London, Estonia's Minister of Education and Research Mailis Reps said through spokespeople on Thursday.
Interest in Estonian education a the forum was higher than expected, Reps said.
"This clearly is an obvious assurance that Estonia's education system is a model example for other countries. This gives us a great opportunity to strengthen Estonia's positive image abroad and increase education export," said the minister.
Reps noted that careful thought has to be given to how to make this kind of attention work best for the benefit of society.
"This is why we have established the Education Nation brand. I believe that this will be the next success story of Estonia," said Reps.
The Estonian minister had meetings in London with the managers of education activities at Apple, Amazon, Discovery and Microsoft, who demonstrated great interest in Estonia's education system as well as in cooperation in implementing innovative solutions in education.
"These companies have many ideas for modernizing education, and Estonia is seen as an excellent partner with whom to discuss new solutions and perhaps even test them," Reps said, describing this as an opportunity that helps to make Estonia's education even better.
During the visit, Reps also met her British colleague Nick Gibb to discuss bilateral cooperation between Estonia and the UK. She also delivered a public speech on Estonia's education success at the Department for Education.
