Merzlikins allows 7 goals in his NHL debut

PITTSBURGH - Latvia goalie Elvis Merzlikins allowed seven goals on 40 shots in his NHL debut in which his Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Pittsburg Penguins on Saturday. 

The Blue Jackets fell to 0-2 on the young season with a 7-2 loss on Saturday night vs. Pittsburgh in PPG Paints Arena, with Latvian forward Teodors Blugers also scoring for the Penguins. 

Merzlikins has become the 24th Latvian playing in the NHL.
