TALLINN - Commander of the Defence Forces, Lt. Gen. Andrus Merilo, said on the Kuku Radio show "Kahe vahel" that for some time, Russia has envisioned its victory as a scenario where they sit down with the Americans to divide the world.
"In reality, none of us know the substantive points. I also account for the possibility that it involves a great deal of Russian information operations, influence activities, and fear-mongering," Merilo commented on the bilateral agreements between the US and Russia.
The commander of the Defence Forces explained that for several years, Russia's 'victory theory' has been built on the premise of sitting down with the United States to divide the world again. "And now, this seems to be theoretically underway."
"Right now, they are, in some respects, threateningly close to achieving their victory theory in Ukraine," Merilo added, noting, however, that militarily, Russia has not been successful.
According to Merilo, Russia is currently frantically searching for a way out of a potential strategic defeat. "Now, a situation has theoretically arisen-though it still needs confirmation-where the Americans are inadvertently handing them that lifebuoy again," Merilo stated.
