RIGA - When the new retail trade regulations come into force from November 15, the larger Maxima XX and XXX supermarkets will only be available to persons with a valid Covid-19 certificate and will be working in the so-called ''green regime'', while the smaller Maxima X supermarkets will work in the ''red regime'', Maxima spokeswoman Liene Dupate-Ugule informed LETA.
Overall, there are 39 Maxima XX and XXX supermarkets in Riga and throughout the country, as well as 134 Maxima X supermarkets.
When the lockdown is lifted from Monday, the working hours of Maxima X supermarkets will be from 7 am to 11 pm, while Maxima XX and XXX supermarkets will be open from 8 am to 10 pm.
As reported, as of November 15 until January 11, 2022, people without Covid-19 certificates, proving vaccination or recovery, will have access to the essential stores only, the government decided today.
Only stores with a floor space below 1,500 square meters with a separate entrance, selling food, medical goods, optical goods, pet food, press and hygiene goods will be available in the "unsafe regime" without the requirement for Covid-19 certificates.
These stores will have to ensure at least 25 square meters per customer. Pharmacies performing vaccination against Covid-19 or testing will have to ensure at least 15 square meters per customer.
Meanwhile, all other stores will be able to operate in the "green regime" for customers with Covid-19 certificates, ensuring 15 square meters of space per customer.
