VILNIUS - Ten Lithuanian soldiers were seen off to NATO's Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan in a ceremony at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas Staff Battalion in Vilnius on Friday, the Defense Ministry said.
The troops from the battalion's Deployable Communications and Information Systems Module (DCISM), assigned to the 3rd NATO Signal Battalion, will be deployed to Afghanistan for four months to provide communications and information systems support for units involved in the operation.
This marks the fourth deployment of a DCISM group to international operations in Afghanistan. DCISM troops have also been thrice deployed to NATO's air defense operation Active Fence and once to the Alliance's peace-keeping mission in Kosovo.
