Latvian women's 3x3 basketball team wins bronze at FIBA Europe Cup

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - Latvian women's 3x3 basketball team, made up of Baiba Eglite, Ieva Kulite, Kristina Petermane and Liene Stalidzane, won the bronze medals at the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup in Hungary.

The Latvian team beat the sixth-seeded Netherlands 17:13 in the bronze-medal game. Kulite was the highest scorer with 11 points.

The French team won the gold medals after beating Spain 14:12 in the final game.

In the quarterfinals, the Latvian team defeated Ukraine 16:14, but then lost to France 8:21 in the semi-finals.

This is the second time Latvian women's 3x3 basketball team participates in FIBA Europe Cup. The first time was in 2014 when the Latvian team finished in 16th place.

In the meantime, Latvian 3x3 men's team - Agnis Cavars, Edgars Krumins, Karlis Lasmanis and Nauris Miezis - finished the tournament in 10th place.
