Latvian football team concludes EURO 2020 qualification with win over Austria

RIGA - The Latvian football team finally notched a victory last night, defeating Austria 1:0 in a EURO 2020 qualifier at the Daugava Stadium in Riga.

Marics Oss scored the winner for Latvian in the 65th minute.

Latvia had already been eliminated from qualification for EURO 2020 before last night's match, while Austria had already booked itself a place in the tournament.

Austria played the match without several of its leaders.

At the moment, Latvia is ranked 143rd in the FIFA rankings, while Austria is ranked 25th.

The win by Latvia snapped a streak of 17 straight matches without a victory.

Latvia concluded the EURO 2020 qualification campaign in last place in qualification Group G with three points.

Poland triumphed in the qualification group with 25 points from 10 matches, followed by Austria with 19 points, Slovenia and North Macedonia with 14 points a piece, Israel with 11 points and Latvia in last place.
