TALLINN - Latvia has informed Estonia, under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context, about the completion of an environmental impact assessment report for the Limbaži wind farm project.
The developer of the project, SIA Latvijas Vēja, plans to construct a wind farm with up to 20 turbines across approximately 2,000 hectares in the Limbaži administrative area. Each turbine is planned to have a maximum capacity of eight megawatts and a maximum height of 300 meters. The nearest proposed turbine will be located approximately 13.2 kilometers from the Estonian border.
Considering the deadline set by Latvia, the Estonian Ministry of Climate is expecting proposals regarding the environmental impact assessment report for the Limbaži wind farm, as well as substantiated opinions on any significant adverse transboundary environmental impacts the wind farm's construction might have on Estonia, no later than Jan. 17.
