RIGA - Latvia gains a lot from its membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), introducing good changes in education, the economy, digital development and other areas, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) said on Wednesday after a meeting with OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann.

The Prime Minister discussed with the OECD Secretary-General how to further reduce bureaucracy and implement OECD recommendations to make public administration more modern and efficient.

During the meeting, Silina also reaffirmed Latvia's strong support to Ukraine on its path towards OECD membership.

The OECD is an international organization founded in 1961, which currently brings together 38 of the world's most developed countries, including 22 European Union Member States. Latvia officially became the 35th member of the OECD on July 1, 2016.
