Latvia beats Belarus at U-20 Hockey World Championship

MINSK - In the second Group A match at the U-20 Hockey World Championship (Division 1) on Tuesday, Latvia beat Belarus 3:2 (0:1, 0:0, 2:1, 1:0) to take the first place in the group.

Glebs Prohorenkovs and Patriks Zabusovs scored the regulation time goals for Latvia, while Janis Svanenbergs scored the winning overtime goal.

In the other group matches yesterday, Denmark beat Slovenia 2:1 in overtime, while Austria defeated Norway 5:2.

Latvia is currently in first place in the group with five points from two matches, Belarus is second with four points, Austria and Norway have three points each, Denmark has two points and Slovenia one.

As reported, only the winner of the tournament will earn promotion to the Elite Division next year.
