RIGA - The Culture Ministries of Latvia and India have signed a program of cooperation in culture for 2026-2029, Lita Kokale, Head of the public relations department of the ministry, told LETA.
The program is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of cultural heritage, music, cinema and museums, as well as to expand cooperation between library and archive institutions. The program also aims to expand the opportunities for dialogue between the two countries in contemporary art and dance.
On behalf of Latvian, the cooperation program was signed by Zane Vagnere, Deputy State Secretary of the Culture Ministry, while Indian Ambassador to Latvia Namrata Kumar was delegated to sign it on behalf of India.
Latvia and India have so far enjoyed successful cooperation in the fields of literature, music and visual arts. At the signing ceremony, Vagnere expressed her appreciation of the partnership and her conviction that the new program will contribute to enriching the cultural life of both countries, as well as to strengthening the exchange of professional experience and knowledge.
The Latvian-Indian bilateral dialogue is active, the Culture Ministry noted. It is characterized by high-level exchanges of visits, close cooperation in international organizations, exchanges of students, cultural and artistic events, as well as the expansion of the contractual legal base.
