Latvia and Estonia emphasize the need for dialogue with third countries in order to reduce risks of circumventing Russia sanctions

RIGA - During political consultations, Latvia and Estonia emphasized the need for dialogue with third countries in order to reduce the risks of circumventing the sanctions introduced against Russia, LETA was informed by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MA).

Deputy State Secretary-Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andzejs Vilumsons and Estonian Foreign Ministry Deputy State Secretary for Political Affairs Kullike Sillaste-Elling discussed the security issues of the Baltic States.

The parties also discussed preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, future support for Ukraine and European Union sanctions against Russia, as well as discussed other global challenges.

The two sides agreed that it is essential to strengthen regional cooperation in various formats, including coordination on issues of the global agenda.
