Last week the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church (LELB) met to amend its internal constitution to declare that women cannot be ordained by the church. This is something that was already recorded in the statutes of the church, but never mind. Also never mind that women haven’t been ordained by the LELB, when one Janis Vanags took over as archbishop way back in 1993. This is one conservative piece of work, and that is putting it mildly.
