Kols not expecting much results from US-Russia talks

RIGA - The chairman of the Saeima's Foreign Affairs Committee Rihards Kols (National Alliance) does not have much expectations that the US-Russia talks will lead to some sort of substantial results.

In an interview with TV3 this morning, the politician reminded that Latvia has received a promise from its partners that issues affecting the security of the Baltics and Europe will not be discussed with Russia without the participation of these countries.

Kols does not believe that Russia has managed to divide NATO between old and new members with its ultimatums, but the motives of Russia's statements are currently difficult to comment.

The MP said that the rhetoric coming from Russia is aggressive and manipulative, but that Russia has been known for such rhetoric since the Soviet times.
