TALLINN, March 31 (BNS) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on social media that European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas arrived in Kyiv this morning along with the foreign ministers of several EU countries, reports Postimees.
Kallas was greeted at the Kyiv railway station by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová.
Arriving in the Ukrainian capital with Kallas were German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže, and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys.
"Today, we remember the dark anniversary of the Bucha massacre. On that day, horrific images of murdered civilians shook the entire world. Such a strong European presence on this day shows that justice for this and other Russian atrocities is inevitable," said Sybiha.
Sybiha added that this time also marks four years since Ukraine began the liberation of the Kyiv oblast and other areas from Russian occupation. "This is a reminder of the heroism of our defenders. Ukraine knows how to win," the minister added.
In a statement posted on social media, Kallas wrote that she is glad to be back in Kyiv.
"Every visit is a reminder of Ukraine's bravery and resilience. Europe stands with you. We will continue to provide military, economic, energy, and humanitarian aid. And we will do everything in our power to ensure full accountability for Russia's crimes," Kallas wrote.
Also in Bucha on Tuesday for an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers is Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Russian forces killed hundreds of civilians in the town of Bucha in March 2022. Horrifying photos of bodies on the streets became public on April 1.
In total, the bodies of 458 people were found in the town, including nine children. Many of the bodies were mutilated and showed signs of torture or rape.
