TALLINN - Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets said that the Police and Border Guard Board will soon sign a cooperation agreement with AS Hansab, which means that soon it will be possible to pick up one's identity documents in major shopping centers as well.

According to Laanemets, this opportunity will arise either already at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.

"This concerns the addition of nearly 50 such service points. After all, we know that there have occasionally been long queues at the service centers of the Police and Border Guard Board, but the new agreement should significantly reduce people's trouble and waiting time," Laanemets said.

The minister added that the issuance of documents is carried out securely and people all over Estonia have either already been trained or this process is still ongoing.

In the next stage, from next year, it will be possible to receive identity documents in Finland, where there is a very large Estonian community, Laanemets said.
