RIGA - Fines for violations of road traffic rules that are recorded by speed cameras in Latvia are expected to bring in EUR 20 million over the next three years, according to the Ministry of the Interior's estimates.
The ministry expects to collect EUR 8.94 million in such fines in 2024 and EUR 8.1 million in 2025. In 2026, the ministry projects a substantial decrease to EUR 3.3 million.
According to previous budget plans, the Ministry of the Interior had planned to collect EUR 7.8 million in traffic tickets in 2024, EUR 7 million in 2025 and EUR 2.2 million in 2026.
The ministry has prepared a draft government resolution, providing an updated estimate of the revenue generated from traffic tickets. The update envisages an increase of EUR 1,143,746.
