RIGA - Due to the sanctions against Russia, in the worst scenario, Latvia's Ventspils port will suffer most, said Transport Minister Talis Linkaits in an interview with LETA.

He said that Ventspils port as a former export port might see a cargo reduction by two thirds, while Riga port might see a 45 percent reductions and Liepaja port - 20-30 percent reduction.

Linkaits said that ports are in a slightly better situation than Latvijas Dzelzcels railway company because Latvia's economy will need supplies.

"It is clear that a part of these supplies will come by sea, which means tat they will be imported, reloaded at ports. Of course, it does not mean that the impact will not be significant," the minister said.
