Hospitality industry helps strengthen Latvia's competitiveness in Baltics - president

RIGA - The hospitality industry helps strengthen Latvia's competitiveness compared to the other Baltic states and promote the country's export capacity, President Edgars Rinkevics said Wednesday during a meeting with representatives of the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association. 

In the meeting, which took place at the association's initiative, Rinkevics and the association's representatives Andris Kalnins and Eriks Lingeberzins discussed the current situation and challenges in the hospitality sector, the president's advisor Martins Dregeris told LETA.

The president heard the views of the association's representatives on the current challenges facing the hospitality industry in Latvia, including the weakened financial situation and the outflow of workforce as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, rapid cost increases and a drop in the number of foreign visitors.
