RIGA - The geopolitical and economic situation does not allow for unprofessional government, said Aigars Rostovskis, the president of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in an interview with the Latvian public radio on Monday.
He said that the government, when making decisions related with the national economy, should engage business organizations, consult experts.
"It is important that the government consults with those who work in the sector and only then makes decision. It is a dangerous situation when a minister or politician assumes that they know better. Of course, the minister has the final say, but it is important to collect information from the market before it," said Rostovskis.
"The previous parliament and government were quite populistic and partly unprofessional. The cooperation with the prime minister was not the best one," said Rostovskis.
Commenting on the plans about the new energy ministry, Rostovskis said that it is important to focus on the energy issue, but it could be done in a number of ways. "It is a matter of management. I am neither for nor against it. The solutions can be different," he said.
