French Jews murdered during Holocaust remembered in Kaunas

Families of Jewish nationals who were brought to Lithuania from France in the during the Holocaust paid tribute to those murdered on May 10, 2016. The commemoration ceremony took place at the 9th Fort in Lithuania’s second city, Kaunas. Over 800 strong and capable Jews were brought to Lithuania from France in May of 1944 – they were told they would have to work but some were murdered in Kaunas. Others were taken to Estonia.
