TALLINN - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened bookings on Thursday evening for a special AirBaltic flight to Tallinn, and on Friday morning for a special FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Riga.
Priority for registration was given to families with at least three children and individuals with health concerns. "We plan to open bookings for subsequent flights today and will inform citizens on-site," the ministry stated.
"Currently, the booking links for the special flights from Dubai to Tallinn and from Dubai to Riga have been sent to large families and citizens with serious health concerns, but we are planning more flights. At least two more flights are scheduled in the coming days, and we will open bookings for them to all citizens soon," said Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
"I want to stress to people that if you haven't secured a seat on these flights yet, do not worry. We are continuing to organize flights and will not leave any Estonian behind," he affirmed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks those who have tickets for commercial flights that have not been canceled by the airline not to cancel them. "People who can get home on currently operating commercial flights and have a ticket, please use that opportunity. I understand that there are few such flights at the moment."
"We are also in constant contact with our European colleagues and, where possible, we will place our citizens on other countries' special flights," said Tsahkna. "Several Estonian citizens have already reached Europe in this manner."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks those who have secured a seat on a special flight to be aware that these tickets cannot be changed. The ministry also urges all Estonian citizens in the Middle East region to register their short-term stay on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
