Football club Riga wins second Latvian Higher League title

RIGA - Football club Riga played RFS to a 1:1 (0:1) draw in a Latvian Higher League (Optibet Virsliga) match on Wednesday to win the league title for the second time in a row.

Elvis Stuglis scored the goal for Riga, and Aleksandrs Solovjovs scored the goal for RFS.

A win or a draw would have been enough for Riga to win the title.

Riga is first in the Higher League standings with 62 points from 30 games, RFS is second with 56 points from 31 matches, followed by Ventspils (47 points), Valmiera Glass/ViA (44 points), Spartaks (41 points), Jelgava (36 points), Liepaja (35 points), Daugavpils (30 points), and Metta (25 points).
