RIGA - The Joint Fortress exercises currently being conducted by the NATO forces deployed to Latvia clearly show that by working together with highly motivated and trained partners, we are capable of quickly and safely hosting NATO naval ships in times of possible crisis, Latvian Colonel Janis Gailis said.

The exercises took place on Saturday in Riga, and its aim was to improve cooperation and coordination with NATO partners in ensuring the hosting of NATO naval ships in Riga when necessary.

Gailis said that the exercise was an excellent opportunity for allied forces to improve mutual cooperation between sea and land forces, as well as civilian institutions in ensuring port availability and safety.
