RIGA - Everything possible should be done to make Russia lose in the war against Ukraine, the Baltic justice ministers said in a press conference after a joint meeting.

Latvian Justice Minister Janis Bordans (Conservatives) told the press that today's meeting of the Baltic justice ministers was symbolic. The meeting had been planned for over a year, but Russia's attack on Ukraine changed the meeting's agenda as the security situation in the region has deteriorated.

Bordans said that almost Nazi Russia has attacked Ukraine, threatening not only the Ukrainians, but also other its neighbors.

Lithuanian Justice Minister Evelina Dobrovolska agreed with Bordans that the security situation has presented additional issues that were discussed by the justice ministers.

Dobrovolska underscores that Lithuania and the Baltic states should consider what should be done in domestic policy and foreign policy in order to improve the security level in Europe.

Lithuania plans to organize a large conference in May to discuss Russia's war crimes in Ukraine. The minister said that it is important to achieve that the initiators of the war are punished.

Estonia's Justice Minister Maris Lauri said that the Western world should achieve that Russia loses the war. She said that the EU should be united in this stance, and the guilty party may not escape the punishment. "It is important for security of the whole world," said the minister.
